# Set Up New Axis Camera

You will need the following to perform the initial set up of an Axis IP Camera

- Ethernet adapter
- PoE Injector
- Axis IP Utility - See Tech share applications folder

Set your ethernet adapter to the following

- IP Address: 192.168.0.1
- Subnet: 255.255.255.0

<p class="callout info">The IP Address may need to be changed based on what the camera defaults too, usually 192.168.0.90</p>

Plugin the PoE injector and connect it to your ethernet adapter and the new camera. The camera must be on the **PoE Data Out** port and your ethernet adapter on the **Data In** port.

Run the Axis IP Utility

The connected camera should be found and display an IP Address. If needed change the IP Address on your ethernet adapter to be in the same subnet as the camera.

Enter the camera IP Address into your browser address bar

The camera initial set up screen should be displayed. Set up as follows:

- Enter the default Caledonia camera password and repeat in the Repeat password field. This is setting the web interface password on the camera.
- Make sure the "Share data with developers" is unchecked and click on **Create Login**
- Click **Continue Anyway** on the password is weak warning
- You will be prompted to Sign In to the camera web interface. Use root for the username and the default Caledonia camera password
- Click Next on the two Get Started screens using the default settings

The camera is set up and ready to be deployed.# Add Camera to ExacqVision

##### **Adding the camera to the ExacqVision server**

Make sure the camera is plugged into a port on the Camera (252) VLAN

Obtain the camera MAC Address and/or IP Address

<p class="callout info">Note: this can be done using the DHCP utility or NetSight or the camera can be directly discovered in ExacqVision</p>

In ExacqVision go to the **Config (Setup) Page**

Under the server the camera in being added to select **Add IP Cameras**

Click on the New button

Set the Device Type dropdown to Axis VAPIX

Enter the cameras IP Address

Enter the Username **root** and the **default Caledonia camera password**

Click on the Apply button

After several second the should connect

##### **Setting up the camera setting in ExacqVision**

- Find and open the camera in the left Configuration pane
- On the Display Tab 
    - Name the camera using appropriate naming conventions
    - Use the Position dropdown to set a location that will not interfere with the video
    - Check the Name, Time, and Date checkboxes
    - Adjust the color if necessary for good viewing (use the default if possible)
    - Click on the Apply button
- On the Recording tab 
    - Make sure Recording is enabled
    - Set the format to H.264
    - Generally use the highest resolution available
    - Set the Image Rate to 10
    - The Rate Control Type should be Constant Quality
    - Set the Rate Control Quality to 5
    - Click on the Apply button (Note: the camera will reset)
- On the Motion tab 
    - Set both the Pre and Post Motion to 3 seconds
    - Only make adjustments to the Motion Window settings if necessary
- If the Mechanical PTZ tab is available and the camera is not a PTZ camera set the Serial Port to Off# Add User to ExacqVision

Open and login to the ExacqVision client

Go to the **Config (Setup) Page** - Click on the gear icon

Expand the primary server the user will access and select **Users**

Select **Query AD/LDAP**

In the search box type the first and last name and then click on **Search**

<p class="callout info">Note: You can use the wild card character "\*" at the beginning of the last name if needed</p>

Highlight the appropriate user from the list and then click on **Select**

Set the **User Role** to the group for their building

Click on **Apply**
