UPS Setup for Insight

Use the following to set up a UPS for management in Insight

The UPS should be plugged into the Management VLAN (253). If the UPS is powered up while plugged into the wrong VLAN, reset the network card after the UPS is pugged into the correct VLAN (253).

Identify the UPS IP Address. This can be done withy DHCP or NetSight.

Use the IP Address to access the UPS web interface

If a default username and password has not been set up you will be prompted to do so. Use the UPS username and password from the password vault.

It will take a few seconds for the UPS to set up the username and password, you will then be prompted to login. Use the username and password just set up to login.

Setting Up the UPS

Switch to the Communications tab

  • Select Protocols
    • Click on Edit
    • Check the enabled checkbox
    • Click on Save
  • Expand Protocols and SNMP and click on SNMPv1/v2c Access
    • Click on the first entry in the list
    • Click on Edit
    • Enter 10.100.0.51 for the SNMP Access Host
    • Use the UPS SNMP password from the password vault for the SNMP Access Community String
    • Click on Save
  • Collapse the Protocols tree
  • Expand Configuration and click on System
    • Complete the identification fields
    • Set the Display Temperature Units to Fahrenheit
    • Click on Save
  • Click on Time Service
    • Click on Edit
    • Enter 10.100.0.10 for the primary NTP Time Server
    • Set the Time Zone to (GMT -5:00) Eastern Time
    • Click on Save
  • Click on Support
    • Click on Enable for Commands
    • Click on Restart
    • Click on OK for the Do you want to continue? prompt

It will take several minutes for the UPS network card to restart

Adding the UPS to Insight

Login to the Insight server 

  • Click on the Monitoring icon
  • Run the Default Discovery
  • The Discovery will take several minutes to run

  • After the Discovery has completed select Discovered Devices
  • Select the device to including monitoring and click on the monitor icon
